What if I could show you an app that had the potential to connect you with your audience,
while helping you make more money, and you could do it all from your phone?
Sound to good to be true? Keep reading to see why I feel the Symposium App is a great opportunity for bloggers, influencers, business owners and anyone else looking to make money online.
Welcome to the Symposium App.
Note: this is a non-sponsored objective review.
What is Symposium?
Symposium is a worldwide marketplace that connects people – business professionals, celebrities, athletes, fitness coaches, social media trendsetters, and many more users by way of scheduled video chats, voice chats and live pay-per-view broadcasts.
Essentially, Symposium provides the opportunity for anyone to monetize their expertise.
Sellers of services simply use the free app by downloading it from the Apple App Store, Google Play or launched via the Symposium web app at www.symposium.us. Consumers wanting services likewise can quickly connect with influencers, celebrities, and experts in virtually any profession or areas of interest.
Sellers can set up a listing about their event simply and easily by entering in a brief description of their service, their available times and the duration. Services may fall into one for of three categories:
SymTalk – This is a one-to-one scheduled video chat session with a buyer of a service, which could include consulting, tutoring or a meet-and-greet.
SymCast – A scheduled one-to-many LIVE streaming session that allows the sharer to broadcast to a wide audience. This pay-per-view style stream is perfect for live performances, makeup tutorials, youth sports, and fundraising where attendance is limited by travel, time or space constraints.
SymGram – This feature enables one to offer a personalized video message in the form of say a birthday greeting, graduation congratulation, or well wishes to friends and families. Influencers such as entertainers, sports figures, CEOs or politicians would find this feature to be an excellent form of new social media.
Initially, I had discovered the app indirectly. I had recently conducted a few success story interviews, and they were using the app. Intrigued, I sent Symposium a direct message and asked to learn more about the App.
When I first started looking into the platform, I could see the potential for an influencer or celebrity. However, I was uncertain how a side hustler, like a blogger, a business owner or someone with less media pull would use the app.
Luckily, Symposium has an amazing team and they walked me through the whole process, and I am grateful they did because now I’m hooked. I even launched my own coaching session on the app.
Why it is worth your time
The Symposium App manages to solve several problems faced by brands, influencers, bloggers, and even traditionally offline businesses like coaches, consultants, and counselors.
The App is extremely simple to use.
If you have ever made a phone call. used Skype or FaceTime, you will immediately be familiar with how to use the app.
SymTalk works like a phone call or video facetime chat and would be suitable for anyone that would want to have a one-on-one conversation.
- CPA’s, financial advisors, and money coaches could use the app for planning sessions
- Fitness professionals could use the app to offer private training sessions, without the need to drive to a client’s home
- Web and IT professionals could use the app to coach clients how to set up their website, hook up their computer, or walk them through installing software
The possibilities are truly endless.
SymCast works more like a webinar; where the seller broadcasts a presentation or event to multiple people. If you have ever been on a GOTO my meeting or Facebook live event, you will be familiar with how SymCasts work.
- A yoga instructor could use a SymCasts to broadcast classes to people in their home
- Web professionals could SymCast classes on SEO or online marketing
- Podcasters can provide live casted episodes of their podcast
- Gamers could broadcast out live gaming sessions
- Travel photographers could use SymCasts remotely in any location in real time
- Schools and local theater companies could use the app to broadcast live plays and musicals.
In fact, a SymCast is a great way for a school to fundraise; the school play could be ‘SymCasted’ to the family members of the students or any user who would like to support local schools.
Considering that the host can charge whatever they see fit for their event, and participants pay to view, the host has the potential for unlimited income.
Note: One item that really jumped out at me was how fast the live streaming was on the app. I held my first SymCast to demo the app from the front porch of my rural home. We have weak cell phone coverage and the app functioned without lag or delay.
Comparably, I have done several Facebook live events in my office, on a dedicated high bandwidth connection with a top of the line gaming computer and the Symposium App on my phone live-streamed much more seamlessly and without the lag.
Signing up is quick and easy
The app is easy to download, and extremely quick to sign up for. I was able to set up an account using my Twitter credentials and the App imported my bio profile and picture. As a seller, this is a great feature as I could get up and running quickly on the platform and I do not need to remember another set of login credentials.
For the consumer looking to make purchases on the marketplace, being able to use their preferred social media for sign in removes barriers of entry. The easier you can make the user experience the better your engagement will be and you will increase repeat customers.
The App is all you need
The Symposium App handles scheduling, collecting of payments, and notifying customers of upcoming events. I have demoed several pieces of software in my professional career, and it always seemed like no matter how great a piece of software was, you always needed additional software and subscriptions to get full functionality.
For example, to host a webinar, you might need scheduling software to handle scheduling, CRM software to maintain client contacts, email software to send out notifications, some require click funnels or landing pages to move people through the sequence, and that’s just to get sign-ups.
The event itself may require three different additional pieces of software to host the event and collect payment. Symposium handles all of that: you sign up for the app and start offering your events without the need to buy a bunch of software or subscriptions.
Monetizing A Small Audience
One problem faced by many smaller brands online is how to effectively monetize a small audience. Many bloggers, YouTubers, and Podcasters struggle with how to make a living wage off of traditional monetization methods such as Pay-Per-Click ads. Even sites with 25K monthly visits have trouble making more than a few dollars a day from ad revenue.
Symposium offers a viable alternative and an additional value-added revenue source.
For example, imagine a fashion blog with only a few thousand sessions a month. They could offer a monthly SymCast and broadcast a presentation on applying makeup correctly, or fashion tips. Even with a modest audience size of 100 viewers, charging just 10 dollars apiece, the blogger has now picked up one thousand dollars additional revenue.
Full functionality from your phone
Having full functionality from your phone is more than just a convenience feature. It opens the possibilities of what may be possible to broadcast. A comedian could have a performance live streamed, an author could broadcast live from a convention, or a fitness professional could even broadcast from a competition.
Celebrities could use the App to take fans behind the scenes of a concert or film festival, all from the convenience of their phone.
Travel bloggers can use the app to take readers with them on their journey and live broadcast, nature, and culture that words and pictures would not do justice.
Not only is this an additional way to make revenue, it’s a value-added experience for the subscriber.
Side hustles are becoming quite popular and for good reason. Having a side hustle can be a great way to save extra money towards retirement, pay down some debt, or even save for a family vacation. Additionally, side hustles provide diversification and even asset protection. If you have a side hustle and get laid off, a side hustle can help prevent you from liquidating your savings.
The problem, however, with most side hustles, is that you can be either a goods provider (make something to sell) or a publisher (produce content). As a content publisher, income doesn’t begin adding up until you have a large audience engaging with your content.
With Symposium, a modestly priced SymTalk or SymCast can result in quick cash. No more building up thousands of people in order to earn pennies on the views. This app ranks high in possible monetization.
Note: Symposium pays the seller immediately upon completion of the SymTalk or SymCast.
With all that being just the perks of the program, I invite you to try out Symposium. Let me know what your results are, and I’m happy to report back to the company to make it as great as possible! It’s free to try, and you never know – it could be your biggest money maker yet.
Thank you to Symposium’s team for allowing me to share all the features and benefits of this great program!
