About Jimmy Star
Jimmy Star is the celebrity Renaissance man….tv/radio host of The Jimmy Star Show with Ron Russell, the #1 Web show in the world with 4.5 million weekly viewers/listeners, celebrity interviewer, actor, best-selling author, and award-winning publicist.
My questions are in bold, Jimmy's follow in plain text
You have an excellent internet radio show, where you discuss pop culture and entertainment. Can you tell us about the show?
The Jimmy Star Show with Ron Russell is a web show, it is television and radio, and we have conversations with fantastic celebrities from your favorite movies and tv shows, as well as your favorite musical artists.
Any cool projects coming up soon on the show, can you give us a sneak peek?
The Jimmy Star Show with Ron Russell is going to be on Comcast/Xfinity on demand across the United States, which is very exciting, and we cannot wait for the show to be available across the country on mainstream television.
Besides running your show, you are also an actor, you have appeared in both Marvel and DC movies. What is it like being an actor?
I love working in film and television….. it breaks up the pace of everyday life, and you get to meet really talented people in the industry. I have three movie roles I should be filming in the next six months.
You also are a writer; how do you find time to write with everything else you are doing?
It is difficult sometimes. Everything I do is related in the entertainment industries, and I hope to turn some of my books into movies, and tv series.
Do you have any productivity tips for aspiring writers?
Just sit down and do it….too many people make things difficult. If you want to be a writer, you have to start writing.
What is the one thing we do not know about the industry or maybe we as fans take for granted?
I think everyone sees all the glitz and glamour of working in the industry, which is a small percentage of what actually happens. It is a lot of hard work and can be quite tedious and boring.
A lot goes into a film or tv show, that is very difficult, and the red carpets last for an hour, but the work is weeks or months in the making for that one hour.
What is one thing you have learned from being successful?
Don’t let success go to your head.
There is always someone more successful, better, and harder working than you are. Do your best and work hard at what you want to accomplish every day, and it will come.
Is there a mistake you have made starting out that you wish you could change?
I don’t think so.
Mistakes are how you become who you are, and make you stronger. I wish I would have started in my teens instead of in my 40’s.
What advice would you give someone starting out?
Work hard, don’t let others tell you that you won’t make it and never give up. Also, learn how to network.
What are you most proud of?
I was thrilled to be named the 5th most influential radio personality to follow in social media, and also to be the 2018 Publicist Of The Year at the Nashville Universe Music Awards, being named the best music publicist in the United States.
Looking back on your career, is there something you learned from the industry that you found surprising?
I am always surprised at how the really big celebrities that I have met and worked with have been super duper nice and helpful, and that the not very famous ones who are on a reality show or in some indie films have terrible egos and act like they are Academy Award Winners. It always amazes me. Everyone should be kind and helpful, no matter what they have accomplished in the industry.
Any upcoming projects you are working on?
I have three movies coming up, and a new tv show called Around The Table with Ron and Jimmy, which is a celebrity conversation show with great actors and people in the industry discussing the industry.
You are involved in public relations, what is that like?
I love it….such a blast, and it gives me another opportunity to work with really talented individuals, bands, authors, filmmakers, etc.
How important is PR for success?
My company is World Star PR….I think it is imperative as the competition is steep, and having a good publicist helps give an advantage needed.
Do you see any common mistakes people make regarding their PR?
Most people who need it do not have it.
Publicists work hard to keep clients in the spotlight. It is a significant part of working in the industry.
You have an impressive social media following. What does your social media strategy look like, any tips?
Talk to everyone, respond to people, don’t do your social media like a news page. Interact with people, and they will become friends, fans, and supporters.
Any mistakes you see people routinely make with social media?
Most people do not interact with their followers. It is crucial to interact and respond to people who reach out and follow.
Where can people connect with you online?

- My website is www.jimmystarsworld.com.
Any apps, books, or tips that you use?
I do not use any and do all of my own social media pages.
I think it is essential as my social media friends and fans have been instrumental in my popularity and deserve to be recognized.
How do you manage time?
I work all of the time….. I love it, and take a few hours a day off, but am working most of the day and night….
What is the best advice you have received?
Never Give Up….if you really want it, work hard for it, and persevere you will achieve your goals.
Do you have any advice for people that may feel discouraged about reaching their goals?
Never give up….I sound like a broken record. It took me 25 years to get where I am now, and I have a long way to go…make sure that the journey is fun, and you want to enjoy what you are doing all along the way.
Anything I should ask that I have not?
I love dogs, action figures, horror, and superhero movies.
What is the one thing you wish everyone knew?
Life is short; don’t be a dick. Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated and laugh once in a while don’t take everything so seriously. Have Fun.
If you could interview anyone from the Marvel or DC universe on your show who would it be?
Patrick Stewart…. I love Patrick Stewart; he is an incredibly talented man.
