Premiering May 4th, in honor of May the Fourth Be With You, an eight-episode documentary pulls back the curtain on The Mandalorian. It takes viewers behind the scenes of the first live-action Star Wars television shows.

Every Friday, Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian will explore each chapter of the hit series through interviews, behind the scenes footage, and roundtable conversations hosted by Executive Producer Jon Favreau.

Audiences got the first taste of the Disney magic when the American Society of Cinematography revealed the production’s high-tech process of creating far-off lands within the safety of their Southern California studio. A dynamic and massive LED video wall and ceiling created real-time photo-realistic backgrounds that played out behind and around the performers.

A process that will be discussed as the documentary covers the groundbreaking technology used to create the series. Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian will also delve into the legacy of George Lucas’ Star Wars, the artistry behind the show’s practical models, effects, and creatures, plus the creative influences, the iconic score, and connections to Star Wars characters and props from across the galaxy.

In a press release, Favreau described the new series as “an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season 1. We had a great experience making the show, and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.” And yes, that does mean sharing more of The Child with us.
