Hi Money Geeks!

I’m Stephen!  I’m a construction project manager, and my wife Erica is an elementary art school teacher. We are both in our late 30’s and we have two kids under 10. Recently we’ve become FED UP with our lack of financial traction. We’re now on our 3 step plan which we follow for everyone to see at The FIRE Lane. We’ll change our lives from paycheck-to-paycheck to Financial Independence by 50 years old.

Thank you, Michael, for allowing me to host.  Without further ado, here is this week’s Best of the Web!

10 Money Saving Benefits to Owning an Electric Car – The FIRE Lane

For the past 2 years, I’ve been driving a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).  I’ve learned a lot about electric car culture, the vehicles, and why individuals would want to own one.  I truly believe that there is a form of an electric car that will work for just about any individual.

Driving an electric vehicle will save you money.  Fuel savings are the obvious part.  Even though my Chevy Volt burns gas, I did not need to visit a gas station in December.  Do you know about all of the tax credits and perks that electric car buyers receive?

You might decide that owning an electric car is the right move for you to make in 2019.

My Geeky Fact

You might not know that I’m an avid collector of PEZ dispensers.  I’ve been collecting for a little over 20 years.  My collection has grown to 700+ dispensers which are no small effort to display properly.

My favorite dispensers are either the set of Star Trek: The Next Generation or the Disney Princesses.

In the past 6 months, there has been a joint venture between Funko, creators of the POP vinyl collectibles, and PEZ.  The new dispensers being released are a Geek’s dream.  Nightmare Before Christmas, Hanna-Barbera, Doctor Who, and Golden Girls are all now PEZ dispensers.

Fun Fact: Did you know that PEZ is short for the German word for peppermint?  PfeffErminZ.
